Procedure
The project will take place over 9 months. The program plan is as follows (in parallel steps):
- Establishment of a consortium of partner organizations comprising Universität Hamburg, the Tutoring for All gUG, the University of Wuppertal, Teach First Deutschland and the Success for All Foundation. Universität Hamburg is spearheading the development of a detailed implementation concept.
- Development of a prototype of the digital learning platform for the German language and accompanying training materials. The platform will be based on the US model as far as possible. At the same time, we will examine reading proficiency teaching materials that are available in Germany to determine whether they can be adapted and incorporated into the platform.
- Initiation of a collaboration with model schools that are interested in contributing to the development and experimental trial of the tutoring model prototype.
- Recruitment of university graduates as tutors. This initial trial cohort will receive introductory training. On this basis, they will be qualified to contribute to the development of the tutoring model prototype. Later, they will work as multipliers in the field.
- Production of a video tutorial and a handout for the presentation of the tutoring model prototype. All materials must be sufficiently developed to start the program in the first school semester in 2021/22.
